I just returned (sort of) from Northern California teaching at Art is YOU Santa Rosa. It was fun, my classes were very full, I got to TAKE a class for a change AND I came back super inspired! AND..I made sure to take care of myself by shipping supplies ahead of time and flying into an airport that was only 10 minutes away! This time I had energy and was so much more relaxed so that is a big piece of advice for anyone that goes to an art retreat... ship what you can (Fed Ex ground is super cheap) and make sure you don't have to ride a shuttle for 2 hours to get to your destination. It made the retreat so much more enjoyable and I had the best roomie, Libby!! We had fun and I highly encourage anyone to go to an art retreat....it's good medicine!
So.....Now for the East Coast! About 2 months ago(?) I was invited to teach a 2 day workshop in North Carolina in a town called Maggie Valley nestled in the Blue Ridge Mts. Sounds good so far right? Michelle Duke of The Duke and Duchess Designs has put together a 2 day retreat this Fall and I invite you to join us! I've never been to North Carolina nor have I seen the East coast in the Fall (which I have always wanted to do) so here's to another adventure. And Michelle will be your host after the workshops and show you around the area if you want to stay longer. She knows the best antique shops and sights AND a few days after the workshop she is putting together transportation to the infamous Country Living Faire! So mark your calendars for these dates and book your accommodations now as this is a very busy time of year in Maggie for "BOHEMIAN BONFIRE":
When: October 20-22nd, workshop with me Saturday and Sunday with a Friday evening gathering, sipping libations, s'mores and make and takes. Stay longer and let Michelle be your tour guide for more adventures.
What: 2 workshops, Mini book necklace workshop and Leather coin purse necklace workshop (scroll down for pictures of these workshops)
Where: A beautiful cabin nestled in the Blue Ridge Mts. of Maggie Valley,NC. Address given and registration.

If you live on the East coast and have wanted to take a class with me now is the time. I very rarely go back East as I am kept very busy here on the West coast, teaching in Southern California. Here is what I will be teaching:
Miniature Leather coin purse made from scratch. YES I will show you how to make this adorable leather coin purse along with the very cool knotted necklace and tassel. You will love it and I provide a very detailed and prepped kit so all you have to do is assemble it!
On day 2 we will make this VERY popular tiny hand bound book, also from scratch and also with a very well put together kit:
Registration just opened, so what are you wating for? Sign up now with your friends before we are sold out. There are only 25 spots! Go here to register:

I would love to make both of these pieces! Robin.. you are a great teacher, you taught me some crochet (although I never mastered 2nd). Whoever gets to attend this is going to go home happy.
